PPP sweeps reserved

PPP sweeps reserved seats in AJK polls

Muzaffarabad—Pakistan Peoples Party Azad Kashmir on Sunday bagged six out of eight reserved seats in Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly while PML-N and Muslim Conference could secure one seat each..

The polling for the reserved seats was held here during which newly elected members of the Assembly cast their votes. According to unofficial results, PPP’s Shazia Akbar and Sadaf Sheikh bagged seven votes each and Shaheen Dar polled six votes for the seats reserved for women. The three were declared unofficially elected.

Other two winners on the women seats were Pakistan Muslim League(N) candidate Dr Fouzia Ashraf who polled ten and Muslim Conference’s nominee Mehrun Nisar securing six votes.


For the seats reserved for Ulema and Mushaikh, Overseas Kashmiris and Technocrats, PPP’s Pir Attiqur Rehman Faizpuri, Wajidur Rahman and Sardar Abid Hussain Abid emerged victorious.

After elections on the reserved seats, the election process of the AJK Legislative Assembly has been completed.

The House will be meeting on Monday during which newly elected members would take oath of office.—INP
